For non-x86 devices I can understand (see Thoughtfix's comparison of N800 and iPod Touch over at TabletBlog

Is MID Intel's admission that their new processors are not powerful enough to be full function?

Intel seems to be saying that if it has limited functionality, but a full browser, then it is a MID. If it has full functionality then it is a UMPC.
WTF? What is full functionality? This is marketing trying to invent a market segment.

Well, this is the important part. Limited functionality is that you wont be able to run what ever you run in your PC. Full functionality means you can run what ever program you are running in your PC. Limited functionality also sometimes means, you wont be able to install new programs.

                                      We can agree to disagree.

I like the styling of the R2H. Relatively clean lines. If they can get their touchscreen woes resolved, I might very well pick up an R2Hv.

The R3 is too busy. Too many buttons and dials and... for the form factor.

MID or UMPC? Does it matter? Is a device with a 7" screen running Linux a MID (Pepperpad)? Is a device with a <5" screen running XP a UMPC (Everun)? Is it just an OS distinction?

Intel seems to be saying that if it has limited functionality, but a full browser, then it is a MID. If it has full functionality then it is a UMPC.

5.6" screen, 1024x600 (jkk thinks it's 4.8. Could be.)
Webcam
GPS
Fingerprint reader
Mouse pointer

I have to say that I never liked the design of the R2H, it was just terrible. But this one looks good.
